Officials along with the winners of the U-23 Cricket Tournament 2026 held at Aboi Town on January 24.
Aboi, January 24 (MExN): The U-23 Cricket Tournament 2026, organised by the Cricket Association Mon District (CAMD) and hosted by the Aboi Sports’ Association (ASA), concluded at Aboi Town on January 24 after four days of competition from January 21 to 24.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from five teams representing different parts of Mon district, showcasing promising young cricketing talent and promoting sportsmanship among the youth.
The opening ceremony was graced by Langwang Angh, PA to MLA, 47 A/C Aboi, and vice president, MDFA, as the special guest. He encouraged the players to uphold discipline, unity and dedication through sports, motivating the young athletes at the start of the tournament.
The final and closing programme was attended by Yarenthung (NPS), Commandant, 11th NAP (IR) Battalion, Aboi, and Wennyei Konyak (NCS), Deputy Commissioner, Mon, who also serves as the president of CAMD.
Delivering the keynote address, Konyak emphasised the importance of sports in youth development, character building and fostering unity at the district level.
Several dignitaries from Mon district, along with heads of departments and leaders of various civil society organisations from Aboi, were present, reflecting strong community support for the promotion of sports in the region.
The Aboi Sports’ Association expressed gratitude to CAMD, participating teams, officials, volunteers and the public for their cooperation and support, which contributed to the successful conduct of the tournament.
