Wokha, November 29 (DIPR): Skill up gradation training for the assisted Self Help Groups under Wokha, Chukitong, Wozhuro and Ralan Block was held on November 29 at DC Conference Hall Wokha, with SMS ATMA, Wokha Dr.Limathung Jami, Megokhono Meyase, SMS (Horti) KVK Wokha, Lireni Kikon, Program Assistant (Plant Protection) and Mhalo Tungoe, SMS (Extension) KVK, Wokha as the resources persons. DRDA Wokha organized the training programme.
27 SHG's were assisted during the year 2011-12 under SGSY, and activities like animal rearing, Horti, cash crops and weaving were undertaken by the SHG's.
Highlighting on the overview of the training, Project Director, DRDA, Hilo Semp said, the main objective of organizing such programmes for the SHG's is to sensitize them and improve their skills which will enable them to carry out their activities effectively and guide them in the right perspective. Activities of some SHG's are very poor where he urged them to strengthen their activities.
Dr. Limathung Jami, highlighted on the management of piggery, goatery, fishery and control/protection of common diseases. Scientific method of cultivation in banana, pineapple, passion fruit and orange was shared by Megokhono Meyase, while scientific method of cultivation in maize, soya bean, ginger and plant protection practices were highlighted by Lireni Kikon and Mhalo Tungoe. The function was chaired by DPO, DRDA Wokha Nchumthung Ngullie.
