Vekutho Soho emerged as the champion of the 44th Wrestling Tournament of Phek Wrestling Association (PWA) held today at Phek village.

 


Son of Hukhoneyi Soho, 26 year old Vekutho Soho walked away with a cash prize of Rs 30,000.

 


26 year old Kuluveto Venuh, son of Lt. Velasu Venuh stood second position and awarded with Rs. 20,000.

 


20 year old Kuluvezo Soho, son of Veniechi Soho and 18 year old Vekuhu Rhakho, son of Vechineyi Rhakho bagged 3rd & 4th place  and received Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.

 


In the under 16 year category, Shevoku Venuh, s/o Samuchi Venuh emerged as the champion and pocketed Rs. 11,000.

 


Vebo Chizo, s/o Vekusa Chizo stood first runner up and was awarded with Rs. 8000.

 


Johi Rhakho, s/o Vechineyi Rhakho and Khuzu Chizo, s/o Nukhodu Chizo bagged the 3rd and 4th positions and received Rs. 6000 and Rs. 4000 respectively.

 


Meanwhile, 10 senior wrestlers and another four  under 16 years have been selected to represent PWA at the forthcoming 26th edition of Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) scheduled for  January 29 to 30 at Phek Town.
Earlier, Vezuhu Keyho, President, Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) graced the opening ceremony as the inaugural guest.

 


Zavekho Vero, RO, DEF, SP Office Phek graced the closing ceremony as the valedictory guest and gave away prizes to the winners.

 


Sao Venuh chaired the opening ceremony while PWA president Thuputhiyi Venuh delivered the presidential address.
