Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): With century from Yugandhar (103) and Yash (100), Nagaland today put up a huge total of 349/5 against Mizoram on the Day-I of the ongoing U-16 Boys Vijay Merchant Trophy. Savlin added another 61.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, as Nagaland dominated the proceedings first day of the three-day North-East and Bihar Zone, Season 2019-20 encounter at NCA Stadium, Sovima Dimapur.
For Mizoram, Swapnanil scalped 2 wickets while Vanrotlinga, Prem and Nipon took one each.
Nagaland will resume batting on Day-II.
The Nagaland U-16 Boys are performing exceptionally in the ongoing trophy having beaten Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh emphatically in their previous matches.
In the inaugural match, Nagaland defeated Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 321 runs on October 12, and they repeated the feat on October 18 by defeating Manipur by an Innings and 251 runs. Both matches were completed with a day to spare.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has allotted the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) to host four Vijay Merchant Trophy matches. The fourth and final match is against Sikkim from October 31 to November 2.
