WHIZZ ride-hailing app launched in Dimapur

Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): The WHIZZ ride-hailing and mobility app was officially launched in Dimapur on August 29, marking an initiative to digitise two-wheeler taxi services and create technology-driven employment opportunities for local youth.

The app was launched by the president of the Dimapur Urban Council Chairman Federation (DUCCF), Zasivikho Zakiesato, during the 7th Foundation Day celebration of the Dimapur District Two Wheeler Taxi Association (DDTWTA) at Kuda 'A' Khel Jotsoma Community Hall.

The launch was the highlight of the programme, which was attended by members of the association and representatives from the traffic police and urban bodies.

According to the DDTWTA, WHIZZ is intended to provide a digital platform for ride-hailing and mobility services while empowering two-wheeler taxi operators through technology.

The DUCCF president, in his address, lauded the association for creating livelihood opportunities for youth and providing services to the public. He also called for greater discipline and responsibility among riders, particularly with regard to road safety.

A traffic awareness session was conducted by Dimapur Traffic Police, focusing on traffic rules and road safety. The association said the session was aimed at encouraging its members to adopt safer and more responsible driving practices.

The DDTWTA also celebrated its seven-year journey during the programme. Association president Shiyeto Wotsa highlighted its role in generating employment for youth and providing affordable mobility to people in Dimapur.

The programme began with an invocation by Vikito Wotsa, followed by a welcome address by Khrozote Kapfo, convenor of the Action Committee. Other presentations included a duet by Limeka B. Swu and Elina B. Swu and a special presentation titled “I am a Taxi Rider” by Matsung Ozukum.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by DDTWTA general secretary Honko Konyak, followed by benediction and the Foundation Day feast.
