Niuland, November 11 (MExN): A Sakhi One Stop Centre (OSC), aimed at providing integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, was inaugurated in Niuland on November 11.
The centre, located near the Community Health Centre in the Medical Colony, was inaugurated by Niuland Deputy Commissioner and Mission Shakti Chairperson, Sara S Jamir, stated a DIPR report.
In her address, Jamir acknowledged the government and the Social Welfare Department for establishing the centre in the district.
The DC urged concerned officials, staff, and citizens to actively participate and support the successful operation of the OSC, noting that while only two unregistered cases were reported in the last three-and-a-half years, many more likely go unnoticed as people are often reluctant to come forward.
She also requested all department officials to treat everyone with “honour and dignity.”
In her keynote address, Avonou Kire, SDO (Civil), highlighted the role and functions of the OSC, stating it will provide integrated support from various departments such as Police, Medical, Legal, and offer temporary shelter and psychosocial counselling.
The office dedication was conducted by Vitoli Sumi, Catechist of St. Joseph Church. The programme was chaired by Nitokali I Awomi, while Hika Yeptho delivered the vote of thanks.
