Dimapur, December 16 (MEXN): The auspicious celebration of Western Sumi Students’ Union Golden Jubilee got underway on december 16,2011 at Kuhuboto town. H. Khekiho Zhimomi, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), as a special guest unveiled the jubilee monolith to mark the kick start celebration which is coinciding with 35th general conference of the union. Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio will grace the inaugural function as chief guest on Saturday morning.
Speaking at the introductory session as special guest, Khekiho greeted the students on the occasion and paid tribute to past leaders and pioneers who have been responsible for the existence of the union.
Challenging the students to be more responsible in life he called on the gathering to look where we stand at this juncture of fast changing world and contribute towards the progress of the society and the community in particular. As leaders of future, students have lots towards the well being of the society he stated.
While reminding them that there is no progress where there is no unity, he urged the students not to discriminate another but to have confidence on each other and build a society stronger in bond for a brighter tomorrow. He further encouraged the student leaders to let their leadership bear fruit and give much importance to education by way of promoting value of education in village level.
Rev. S. Vitoshe Swu, Executive Secretary, WSBAK pronounced the dedicatory prayer of jubilee monolith.
Kaino Chishi, former president WSSU chaired the programme. Niuland Area Students’ Union preformed the act of opening ceremony. Mughato Chophy, co-convener, jubilee planning board introduced the dignitaries.
