Yakang inaugurated at Yachem Village

Dimapur, November 20, (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development and REPA, S Pangnyu Phom, inaugurated the newly renovated Yakang Pang (Morung) of Yachem Village on November 18, 2011 and credited the village as having one of the strongest village Council in terms of administration.
Lauding the Yachem village council for the strong village  administration, the Parliamentary Secretary said that till date, there has been no complain of VDB fund misuse, council complain nor law and  order related problems in the office of the Deputy Commissioner Longleng. “If the village administration is strong, there will be no law and order problem and peace will prevail,” he re-iterated.
 In a press release issued by Lolano P.Khuvung , DIPR , it was stated that  Phom said, “there are 1128 VDB villages recognized by the Government if all the recognized villages have strong village administration there will be peace in Nagaland. If only one village is strong, Nagas will not move forward”, he opined. Terming strong village council as the backbone for implementing various developmental schemes in the rural areas, Pangyu called upon the department officers to carry forward the message in the other villages to emulate Yachem Village Council. “When there is unity in the village administration, there will be no loopholes in mis-management of funds, and development will reach the desired objective,” he maintained.
Giving due credit to the villagers, Phom said, “Whoever I am today, it is because of my villagers blessings and if we want to serve our people, we need to be humble.” Further saying that he was a humble citizen who obeys the Council administration in the village, Pangyu called upon the officers, intellectuals and public leaders to maintain strong bonds with the village they represent and also encouraged them to be united with the village councils.
Phom thanked the RD department officers headed by the Commissioner & Secretary RD, Dirrector RD, invitees from different villages, politicians, NGOs. Public leaders headed by president Phom council and well wishers for visiting his village and expressed that it was the happiest day of his life.
 RD Commissioner & Secretary, V.Sakhrie on his maiden visit to Yachem village expressed that the village was beautiful and impressive in many ways and congratulated the citizens of the village for demonstrating unity and understanding among them. He also felt that the important history of Yachem village needs to be preserved. “We have to keep the documentation and leave it to posterity,”he observed.
Short speeches were also delivered by MLA, chairman NIDC & NLH Nuklotoshi, chairman MARCOFED C.L.John, MLA Toshipokba, DC Longeng, Director RD and Director SIRD Kohima.
