The third quarter-final of the 15th Lotha Football Championship 2026 witnessed a dominant performance as Yon Sporting Club cruised into the semi-finals with a convincing 6–0 victory over Airfield Colony FC at the Public Ground, Wokha on February 5.
Yon SC wasted no time in asserting control, with Sentisang opening the scoring as early as the 2nd minute. An own goal by Airfield Colony FC shortly afterwards doubled Yon’s advantage before Yongsen Ao added a third goal in the 28th minute, giving Yon a commanding 3–0 lead at the break.
The second half continued in the same vein, with Yon maintaining their attacking momentum. Rhondemo struck twice in the 66th and 89th minutes, while Renpithung found the net in the 79th minute to complete a comprehensive victory. Airfield Colony FC struggled to cope with Yon’s pace and organisation throughout the match.
In contrast, the fourth quarter-final between Nyiro Range FC (NRFC) and Old Changsu FC proved to be a tightly contested encounter. NRFC took the lead in the 13th minute through Nchumthing, but Old Changsu FC remained resilient and pushed hard for an equaliser. Their persistence paid off in dramatic fashion when Ekonthung scored in the 90th minute, forcing the match into a penalty shootout amid intense crowd pressure. NRFC, however, held their nerve and emerged victorious in the shootout to secure their place in the semi-finals.
With the completion of the quarter-final stage, the semi-final fixtures have been confirmed. Nyiro Range FC will take on Tsumang FC in the first semi-final scheduled for 11:00 am, followed by the second semi-final at 1:00 pm between Yon Sporting Club and Nitsuyan FC. The championship continues to draw large crowds as teams battle for a place in the final of the prestigious tournament.
