YYO bans non-locals from using Yimkhiung tribe title

Dimapur, November 3 (MExN): The Yimkhiung Youth Organisation (YYO) has banned the non-local individuals from using the title of the Yimkhiung tribe. The decision was made after the first executive council conference of the Yimkhiung Youth Organisation at Pungro Town under the theme “SUKHIT-TO.”

In a press release, it stated that ‘key resolutions’ were unanimously adopted at the executive council conference for the welfare and progress of the Yimkhiung community.

It stated that strict “No Drugs Policy” was to be implemented throughout the Yimkhiung region and that “the right to bear the Yimkhiung title will not be granted to any non-local individuals.”

At the same time, it stated that a plantation drive will take place annually from March to August and that deforestation in any form is strictly prohibited.

Further, YYO, in its press release, cautioned of strong action if any Yimkhiung person faces denial of constitutional rights or if any person defames the Yimkhiung tribe.

It stated that the YYO also welcomed the order from the federal council of the Yimkhiung Tribal Council prohibiting all Naga National Political Group from imposing taxes on local businessmen or entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, it stated that Khesangmong Yimkhiung, Proprietor of M/S Likimro Enterprise, graced the inaugural session of the conference and that he encouraged the youth to equip themselves with practical skills, maintain dedication and serve as the backbone of the Yimkhiung community.

It stated that the programme was chaired by vice president H Hanso with a welcome address from president Apong Janger and that short speeches were given by executive chairman of Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC), ADC of Pungro, Nelizo Tep, president of Yimkhiung GB’s Arihako, president of Khongsa Area Public Organisation and the president of Pungro Sub Division Public Forum. Pastor of Pungro town baptist church, Tsuyihba, led the invocation and the dedication of monolith and that benediction was led by the pastor of Pungro village baptist church, Dr Berimong.
