Zeliangrong Baudi not apex body: Rongmei Council

Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): The Rongmei Council of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (AMN) has said that the Zeliangrong Baudi is “not the apex body of the Zeliangrong community,” as it claims. The Rongmei Council issued a statement today saying that there is no apex body for the Zeliangrong to fit the name and that it is still split into two groups- the  Zeliangrong Union and the Zeliangrong Baudi, both of whom claim to be the apex body. It stated that the Zeliangrong Baudi is only a splinter group of the Zeliangrong Union.
According to the Rongmei Council (AMN) President Thuankubui Pamei, the purpose of the “Interim Body” constituted by the people was to reunite the two split groups into one apex body for the Zeliangrong community.  It alleged that Peren Convention of July 30, 2010 called by the Zeliagrong Baudi was not the peoples’ mandate and was convened by a few people with vested interest. It added that the Convention was not attended by any eminent leaders of the Zeliangrong community neither by the Zeliangrong Union.
