Zeliangrong bodies hail lifting of ban by NSCN (IM)

IMPHAL, SEPTEMBER 10 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB-AMN), Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF-AMN) and the All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AZSU-AMN) have welcomed the decision of the NSCN (IM) to lift the ban and “de-recognised” status imposed on the Zeliangrong apex bodies since 2018.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, the three organisations said the move would foster unity and strengthen the collective spirit of the Zeliangrong Naga community across Assam, Manipur and Nagaland. They described the revocation as a “positive step” towards maintaining peace and mutual understanding within the Naga family.

The NSCN (IM) had imposed the ban on July 16, 2018, which the organisations said weighed heavily on the spirit of the Zeliangrong people. Its revocation was termed by the bodies as not merely an administrative decision but “a profound act of healing and acknowledgment of the sentiments of the Zeliangrong community.”

The organisations also expressed gratitude to the Collective Leadership of the NSCN (IM) and the Coordination Committee of the Zeliangrong Region for their role in bringing the issue to a close.

“This step marks the restoration of dignity, unity and peaceful co-existence within the Naga family, and signals a shared journey towards common hope,” the statement added.
