Senapati, August 2 (MExN): The Zelu (Yangkhullen) Council (Manipur & Nagaland) has strongly opposed the signing of tripartite agreement among Poilwa, Khonoma Villages and the Government of Nagaland on July 31 for augmentation of water supply at Kohima from Teipuiki River, “without the consent and knowledge of the traditional land ownership.”
The Zelu (Yangkhullen) Council (Manipur & Nagaland) in a press statement issued by its chairman Rangom Hau mentioned that the Government of Nagaland and Poilwa Village made a similar mistake by signing an MOU in 2008 ignoring the traditional land ownership for the same project.

The Zelu (Yangkhullen) Council (Manipur & Nagaland) therefore, strongly opposes and also cautions that any agreements and proposals for any developmental activities without the consent of the traditional land owners within its jurisdiction will be oppose “tooth and nail.”
