Zeme Olympic comes to a close

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 17 (MExN): The first ever Zeme Olympic 2019 organized by the Zeme Olympic Association (ZOA) concluded on Tuesday at the GHSS ground, Jalukie town with Advisor for Water Resources, Namri Nchang gracing the closing ceremony as a special guest and Commissioner & Secretary, Kelei Zeliang, as guest of honour.


While congratulating the ZOA for their tireless efforts, Nchang in his speech said he was overwhelmed by the enthusiastic presence of young Zemes from all the three states of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, despite the artificial boundary that set the community apart. 


Nchang hoped that the Olympic would be a turning point to unite and strengthen the Zeme community in every nook and corner.


He congratulated all the teams for enduring hardships and participating in the event and encouraged them to promote the spirit of unity and fraternity within the community and in the society. 


At the same time, Nchang also congratulated Ratobe Poireng from Poila village for becoming the first person from Zeme community and the Nagas to play in European football league. 


Speeches were given by the chief host, Dr. Tumda Newme, Zeme Council, Nagaland president, Robert Riame, Zeme Council Assam president and Dr. Aku Newme, Zeme Council Manipur president.
