DIMAPUR, JANUARY 7 (MExN): Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd.), Advisor to the Dept. of Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, inaugurated the new playground as well as the Youth Sports Meet of Tsüüma Village on January 7.

Speaking as the Special Guest of the Playground Inaugural program, Zhaleo acknowledged everyone who contributed to complete the village playground on time. He noted that completion of the ground was behind schedule due to unforeseen reasons but expressed satisfaction that the first and only standard ground has finally taken shape in the village. Rio cited examples of other new playgrounds constructed in the constituency which have been put to good use till date and further advised that the newly dedicated ground should also be used accordingly.

On the sports front, Zhaleo indicated that games and sports demand strict discipline, commitment and vigorous effort in order to excel in today's competitive world. He challenged the youngsters to start early in life with earnest dedication if they want to be a worthy and respected sportsperson tomorrow. On the other hand, Rio opined that youngsters must be encouraged in their area of interests and in which, "parents and elders play a pivotal role" to motivate and mould notable sportsmen.

Rio further assured that more development projects are bound to be implemented in future and for which, unity among villagers and diligent and vigilant leaders in implementation of government policies may pave way for introduction of more developments.

The playground construction began from a 2013-14 programme and the local MLA initiated its construction under his personal supervision. Besides the local MLA Zhaleo Rio, villagers have also conveyed their utmost appreciation to all well-wishers who selflessly contributed towards successful completion of the playground.
