Dimapur, November 14 (MExN): The Zeliang Youth Organization Dimapur (ZYOD) expressed deep anguish and outrage over the barbaric and inhuman torture meted out to Late Mhathung Lotha and Chonben Kikon on November 9 at Naga Colony, Burma camp.
In a pres update received here, it stated that the so-called agreement between the two parties was nothing less than a death warrant, a desperate, deceitful attempt by the perpetrators to conceal their crime and absolve themselves of responsibility.
It further condemned the use of the names of distinct tribal identities in such agreement stating “the issue was between two families.”
“This attempt is highly condemnable, divisive and non-comprehensive to the nature of peace loving people, it stated.
The organization demanded swift, strong, and exemplary justice and called upon the competent law-enforcing authorities to ensure that every perpetrator involved is arrested, prosecuted, and punished to the fullest extent of the law.
It further urged every community, organization, and citizen to rise together in one voice to condemn this barbaric act, to demand justice for the victims, and to reaffirm our shared values of peace, respect, and humanity.
Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) condemned the repeated brutal assault of Novemer 9 stating, ‘the arbitrary action of imposing fine and being again subjected to manhandling that led to the manslaughter can only be termed as inhuman and barbaric and cannot be allowed to happen again in Dimapur.’
It appreciated the Dimapur Police for apprehending the culprits and further demanded a special investigating team (SIT) to probe into this incident.
“Dimapur is the only city in Nagaland where all Nagas live together and it’s about time that we must learn to live and work together with mutual respect in the true spirit of brotherhood,” it stated.
