COVID-19 vaccination for Persons with Disabilities

Kohima, March 2 (MExN): State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Diethono Nakhro has requested Persons with Disabilities in the age bracket of 45-59 years who are among the eligibility categories or have any of other co-morbidities mentioned to avail the COVID-19 vaccination.

The second phase of vaccination for senior citizens and people with co-morbidities in the age bracket of 45-59 years has started in Nagaland and the list of co-morbidities eligible for receiving vaccination includes blood disorders like Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia, people with multiple disabilities, including blindness and deafness, acid attack where respiratory tract involvement is there, muscular dystrophy, intellectual disabilities and disabled requiring high support needs (severe disabilities).

The Department of Health & Family Welfare has informed that one can self-register through cowin.gov.in or register onsite along with a Photo ID. Vaccines will be provided free of cost at all government facilities.

In this regard, Nakhro requested NGOs, churches, and concerned citizens in various districts to help eligible persons with disabilities register and get the vaccination.
