RPP slams NDPP-BJP govt for ‘subverting meritocracy’

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 4 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has strongly condemned the NDPP-BJP coalition government for what it termed as a “persistent and brazen disregard for the foundational principles of meritocracy and fair play in public service.”

In a statement issued on Saturday, the party said the recent move to induct non-cadre officers into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) was not merely an administrative lapse but “a calculated subversion of governance architecture.”

“The Government Service Associations namely CANSSEA, FONSESA, NSSA, NIDA, and NF&ASA, have repeatedly voiced their resentment, only to be met with an arrogant and dismissive ‘damn care’ attitude from the ruling PDA government,” the RPP said.

Accusing the “opposition-less government” of functioning with impunity, the party alleged that the rule book had been “cast into the dustbin and replaced with a culture of manipulation and favouritism that rewards political patronage over proven competence.”

The RPP recalled that it had earlier appealed to the government to “spare the prestigious IAS from such backdoor entries,” but the plea, like those of the service associations, had been ignored.

“This government is now offering a cascade of problems and misfortunes, the demoralisation of our dedicated civil servants and the devaluation of our administrative fabric,” it stated.

The party demanded immediate transparency in the process, calling for disclosure of the name of the non-NCS officer shortlisted for induction, details of their original entry into government service, and the identity of their political patrons.

“The people of Nagaland have a right to know the architects of this decay,” the RPP asserted.

Expressing solidarity with the government service associations, the party reaffirmed its commitment to uphold merit-based governance.

“The RPP stands resolutely with CANSSEA, FONSESA, NSSA, NIDA, and NF&ASA in their fight for integrity. We call upon every citizen who believes in justice and good governance to reject this manipulative regime,” it added.
