
Satakha, September 15 (DIPR): The 111 BSF observed its Raising Day at BSF Camp, Satakha on 15th September 2011 with founding member Sukhato Rotokha as the Chief Guest.
Sukhato in his speech said, unfortunately a split took in 1968, where some leaders opined that we should continue fighting with the Government of India for achieving our Goal, whereas the other group suggested there should be no more fighting and try to find solution anytime that is acceptable to both Government of India and the Naga People. Another factor was, whereas one group suggested that parliamentary system of Government should continue and the other group suggested for presidential form of Government, and this is how the split took place, he said.
Revolution of Government was formed under the leadership of Leshmo as President and Sukhato Swu as Prime Minister and Sukhato Rotokha as General Secretary. The team went to Delhi and held a discussion with the Prime Minister of India not on political matter, but social upliftment was sought. He Said, that the team has requested the Central Government to grant 3 (Three) Battalions of Border Security Force (BSF) in other to accommodate the revolutionary cadres and facilitate their livelihood and consequently, two battalions was sanctioned that is 111 and 112.
S. Rotokha further said, that during this time there where only three districts in Nagaland i.e. Kohima, Mokokchung and Tuensang. They explained about grave economic situation being faced by Naga People and requested to open three new districts in Nagaland i.e. at Wokha, Zunheboto and Mon, which was readily accepted by the Prime Minister.
In conclusion, he said that “today People under these three districts are enjoying every facilities of the district”, and expressed happiness that not only revolutionary cadres but many civilians have been absorbed in BSF and are being able to maintain their livelihood which is a matter of pride for Naga People and further said we should be thankful to the Government of India.
Earlier, an invocation was pronounced by Union Baptist Church Satakha Pastor, Ghunato Sumi and welcome speech was delivered by commandant 111 BSF, Nitovi Yeptho who also presided over the programme.
