19 local languages notified for GDS Posts in Nagaland

Kohima, December 19 (MExN): The Nagaland government has officially notified 19 local languages and dialects for certifying language proficiency of applicants for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts in the state under the Department of Posts.

A notification from the state’s Home Department, dated December 16, stated the identification is in line with the requirements of the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communication, for recruiting GDS.

The notified languages are Angami, Ao, Chang, Chakhesang, Konyak, Khiamniungan, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sumi, Sangtam, Tikhir, Yimkhiung, Zeliang, Garo, Mikir, Kuki and Kachari.

The Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts have been designated as the certifying authorities for proficiency in these languages within their jurisdictions, the notification stated.

The order will come into force from the date of its publication in the Nagaland Gazette, it added.
