Youth resources & sports advisor Er. Zale Neikha today announced that the department will be launching the 1st Free Football Coaching Camp (Under 14 years) for both Boys & Girls in  Kohima.


It will start from September 4 on every Wednesday and Saturday at 3:00 PM.


Speaking at the state sports award ceremony here today at Indira Gandhi Stadium, he said that bus service will be provided for transportation and for registration and more details, one can contact Indira Gandhi Stadium administrator 8787302692) or Football Coach (7630098992).


He said that with the intent to nurture young talents in different disciplines of sports and also to enable the sportspersons to compete at highest level, the department intends to improvise such kind of coaching camp for other disciplines as well.


“And the department has a vision to conduct such kind of coaching in other districts of Nagaland in the near future,” Er. Neikha added.


He was optimistic that with such humble initiative of the government, “our young Naga boys and girls will excel in different discipline of sports and compete with other states at the national and International level in the near future.”


He informed the gathering that Government of India has earmarked August 29 as ' National Sports Day ' as a tribute to major Dayanchand Singh, who was born in 29th August 1905 and one of the greatest hockey player of India and known world-wide as 'Hockey Wizard' he displayed super-ball control and extraordinary goal scoring feats.


He said that the day is observed every year in India to spread awareness about the importance of sports and games in the life of every individual.


Er. Neikha congratulated the awardees in different disciplines for their achievements and for bringing laurels to Nagaland state and country at large.


The department is also making necessary arrangements for 'Cash Awards to meritorious sportspersons for the year 2018-2019.


 “I personally believe that this humble act of recognition and award to all meritorious sportspersons will boost the morale of our young talented sportspersons to perform and achieve success at the highest level,” Er. Neikha said.


He was hopeful that more talented boys and girls will take up sports with greater zeal and enthusiasm. 


He also urged the budding players to be disciplined and strive for excellence, become professionals and medal winners.


He said that the PDA government is keen to promote, motivate and assist excellent sportspersons in the state and has a vision to take sports in Nagaland to another level.


Exhorting the sports persons at the function, Olympian Chekrovolii Swuro challenged the sportspersons to be mentally prepared and give full dedication to shine at the national and international level.


She called upon them to stay physically fit and mentally strong to succeed in their endeavours.


 “Let us not waste time and decide now how to go ahead,” she said.


Further, she called upon the youngsters to choose the right discipline and stay connected to their desired goals and bring laurel not only to themselves but to the state and the country as a whole.
