Sakraba (Phek) | August 16 : The road construction project for Pfutsero to Phek via Sakraba- Khomi road under Special Accelerate Road Development Programme (SARDP- North East), costing a total amount of Rs. 205 crore commenced here today. The stipulated period for completion of this 66 kms stretch road project is 3 years. Hyderabad based Maytas- Gayatri Company will execute the work.
The construction work commenced this morning after a prayer by Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) executive secretary Vezopa Tetseo in the presence of Z. Lohe, political advisor to Chief Minister, Dr. Er. Vikuotuolie Angami, Engineer-in-chief, NPWD, Peter Solo, Chief Engineer, National Highway, representatives from Maytas- Gayatri company, Tiasunup, executive engineer Pfutsero including several government officials and public leaders.
To ensure successful execution of the work, the Centre Chakhesang Public Organization (CCPO) organized a public meeting with NPWD and Maytas- Gayatri at Sakraba Town Hall this morning.
Stating that since the government has fulfilled the long standing desired of the people by awarding such project, Lohe said: “We want to see that the execution of the work is done as per the laid down specification and on time.”
Assuring the public support for the smooth execution of the work, Lohe said the execution of the work should be of quality control and as per specification.
In the meantime, he said, in the event of the company takes any decision while executing the work without the consultation of the public, the CCPO will not be held responsible for any eventuality. He said any decision taken by company must take the public opinion into consideration as well, so that the relationship between the company and public is not hampered.
He also said that technical advice is required from the company as soil erosion will result while widening the road. Lohe said the public wanted to see a quality execution of the work so that it becomes a model road in the state.
Appreciating the effort of the public towards the affective execution of the project, Er. Dr. Vikuotuolie hoped that everyone will contribute their best effort to ensure the completion of the project on time
He also wanted the Maytas- Gayatri company to give their best effort towards the effective execution of the project. He also asked the company to consider compensation or assistance to those people affected by dismantling of houses or destruction of paddy fields in the hour of the construction work.
NEPED POU member Vengoto Nakhro said that any developmental activity depend upon a good road connectivity and asked the public to understand the same and work for the effective execution of the ongoing construction work.
CCPO president Vepasayi said the CCPO already held two meeting pertaining to the project and had passed some resolutions adding that it will stand by the government /PWD authority to implement the work effectively.
He also hoped that the public view will be taken into consideration on the issue of clearance certificate and completion certificate.
Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) president Zhopayi Nakro said the people of the area expects quality work from the company and at the same time urged the company and give their best effort and work according to the specification.
Also extending public support to the company, CCPO vice president Niehusa hoped that the company would do workmanship. Earlier, the programme was chaired by CCPO press secretary Shepo Hesüh. Later, the public discussion hour has reaffirmed the CCPO’s resolution passed earlier pertaining to the project.
