
Imphal, June 27 (NNN): Thirty-three cadres from three different underground outfits Monday gave up their arms to join mainstream society. The event christened “home coming ceremony” was held at the headquarters of 57 Mountain Division in Leimakhong in the presence of Manipur DGP Y Joykumar. Twenty-two cadres of Pakan Revolutionary Army (PRA) including its “commander in chief” WS Molun Anal, eight cadres of NSCN (K), two cadres of NSCN (IM) and one cadre of FGN/NNC were felicitated by 46 Assam Rifles under 27 Sector, 17 JAK Rifles, 3 Mahar under 44 Mountain Brigade and 11 Assam Rifles under 59 Mountain Brigade.
While the twenty-two surrenderees of PRA have been identified as follows, C-in-C “Brig” Molum aka Jetky, “deputy chief” Abem, “Maj” Anal aka Nepolian, Bebe aka Joesful, T James Kuki, Ricky aka Gin, Letpao, Haopu Kuki, Lalboi Kuki, John Kuki, Rangam aka Ngamboy, Gogou Lamkang, Lein, Francis, Ginnou aka Thankin, Saiboy Anal, Thengkhular Anal, Houneo Zou, Tongmin Gangte aka Mimin, Angpu Lamkang and Neosang aka Amos, the NSCN (IM) cadres have been identifies as Paubamying and Hialakpe.
Further, the eight surrenderees from NSCN (K) are Esam Newme aka Something, Galya Newme, Numming Newme aka Obed, Namhasong Newme aka Rockey, Rockey Newme aka Jessy, Mukam Chinin aka Akhuim, Loyamchang, H Newme, and the lone FGN/NNC has bee identified Thangboi. Speaking at the home coming function, DGP Joykumar lauded the bold steps of the thirty-three surrenderees to shun the path of violence and join mainstream society.
Many underground groups have surrendered during the past two-three years, but these are mostly small groups and until the bigger groups have decided to abjure violence all effort to bring peace in the state is negligible, he said and hoped that they good sense will prevail in the future and more underground outfits will become part of mainstream society. While sharing similar feeling Maj. Gen DS Hooda said that the public and civil society must contribute immensely to bring in peace in the region.
