KOHIMA, OCTOBER 27 (MExN): A six-day construction painting skill training programme began at Khuzama village in Kohima district on October 26, with 33 trainees registered for the programme. Organised by Khuzama Empowerment & Skill Advancement (KESA) in partnership with Asian Paints Beautiful Homes Academy, the programme will continue until October 31. It is supported by the Khuzama Village Council (KVC) and Khuzama Youth Organization (KYO).
The programme aims to equip local youth and residents with practical painting skills to improve their employability, encourage self-employment and expand livelihood opportunities. The inaugural session began with an invocation prayer by KESA Treasurer Thejavino Naleo, followed by a training briefing by Vivek Das, Training Associate at Asian Paints Beautiful Homes Academy.
The training combines classroom orientation, live demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions, providing participants exposure to construction painting techniques and professional quality standards. According to KESA, the initiative seeks to strengthen the availability of skilled manpower in and around Khuzama while improving access to employment and self-employment opportunities.
KESA is a sub-committee of the Khuzama Baptist Church Centenary Committee that works to empower youth and strengthen livelihoods through skill development, vocational training, entrepreneurship support and community development initiatives.
