Imphal, December 22 (MExN):Troops of Assam Rifles (AR) has arrested four persons and seized four trucks of timber being illegally transported from Joupi to Imphal on December 20. The arrest was made when the troops of AR established a vehicle check post in general area Langmeidong after receiving information from sources regarding movement of illegal timber, a press release from PIB (Defence Wing) informed. The teams of Wangoo Police Station and Forest Department, Kakching, respectively arrested the drivers and confiscated the illegal timber, known as 'Khangra' weighing around 60 tonnes and worth Rs 40 Lakh, it said. The drivers along with the consignment were handed over to Wangoo Police Station for further investigation
