45 members resign from NPP in Nagaland

Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): A total of 28 state office-bearers, executive committee members, frontal office-bearers, district office-bearers and primary members of the National People’s Party (NPP) in Nagaland have resigned from the party, according to a statement issued by former Media Secretary of the party’s Media Cell, Y Amen.

The announcement stated that the resignations were collective and immediate, with the members citing their decision to continue their work under the party banner in good conscience as the reason for their departure.

In addition to the 28 members, 11 members of the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) in Dimapur district have also resigned from the party.

Six district office-bearers, women’s front office-bearers and NPYF office-bearers of NPP in Mon district have also submitted their resignations.

The total number of resignations reported across the state, including the Dimapur and Mon district groups, is 45.

NPYF rejects ‘mass resignation’ claim, says Nagaland unit intact
Meanwhile, the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), the youth wing of the National People’s Party (NPP) in Nagaland, has rejected the portrayal of recent developments in the state unit as a complete “mass resignation” or organisational collapse, asserting that the youth wing remains intact and functional.

In a separate statement, NPYF Nagaland president Yabang Imchen and general secretary (Organisation) Neil Verma said describing the developments as a complete collapse was misleading.

The organisation also raised questions over the authenticity of a resignation document being circulated, claiming that one of the state parent-body office bearers whose signature reportedly appeared on it had been out of station for nearly three months.

It questioned whether the office bearer was aware of the document and had personally authorised or signed it, and called for independent verification of any digitally reproduced or AI-generated signature before the document was treated as an official resignation.

The NPYF attributed the current situation largely to insufficient consultation with state office bearers, particularly over the formation of an Interim Committee. It also said inadequate communication and what it described as a slow response from the NPP national leadership at its headquarters in Shillong had aggravated confusion and mistrust within the state organisation.

The youth wing said the priority should be to address workers’ grievances, improve communication and rebuild trust between the state and national leadership, rather than create the impression that the organisation had been completely dismantled.

It maintained that the NPP Nagaland organisation could not be defined by a single document or narrative, but by the workers who continued to support and work for the party.
