Members of Mao Union Senapati offer refreshment to citizens of Nagaland, being evacuated from Imphal as well as their escorts in Senapati on May 7.

About 47 female workers belonging to the Konyak community were still stranded on the outskirts of Imphal city even as the process evacuation process of bringing back students and civilians was underway on May 7.
Speaking with the President of Konyak Students Union, Noklem Konyak, he mentioned that the union has been in constant contact with the State Control Room and have informed them of the situation of the stranded persons. The group were placed at mill when the violence in Manipur erupted on May 3.
After distress calls were put out, the Assam Rifles have managed to extricate them from their location and were now shifted to Imphal city awaiting for the next batch of buses to arrive from Kohima and take them back home, the KSU President informed.
However 4-6 of the individuals have decided to stay back at their work place, he added.
Meanwhile, a total of 676 civilians including 341 families have been safely evacuated from Manipur on May 7 and reach Kohima at around 1 PM. They were welcomed by the Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton and the government officials at the 1st Assam Rifles camp.
Patton noted that as there were still several civilians yet to be evacuated from Manipur. As such 14 buses will be sent back again tomorrow (May 8) for the second batch of evacuation, he added. “Thank you so much for bringing our brothers and sisters back to Nagaland,” he conveyed to Assam Rifles, Nagaland Police and the administration.
