Phek, January 9 (MExN): Altogether, 51 wrestlers will vie for 29th Senior & 1st Under 15 Wrestling Meet 2026 of the Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) on January 10 at Phek Town.
Out of this, the senior category comprises 38 wrestlers and Under 15 at 13 wrestlers for the championship.
Around 8000 seating capacity have been arranged by the ground management team- Khutsokhuno Baptist Church. The inaugural programme will start from 8:30 AM onwards with MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu as the special guest.
The programme will be led by PAWA finance secretary Er. Shekhotso Keyho while presidential address will be delivered by PAWA president Chikhozo Chizo.
PAWA technical secretary Surhoneyi Soho will administer oath to the wrestlers. Hukhoneyi Soho will officiate the event as chief referee.
Entry ticket for spectators: Donor- Rs. 5000, Chair (3 category)- Rs. 2000, Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500. Gallery- Rs. 200.
Meanwhile, the General Assembly of PAWA was held today at Phek Town Council (PTC) Hall and resolved to maintain decorum and decency during the championship.
Anyone found indulging in anti-social deeds and unruly behaviour shall be strictly penalised, according to PAWA.
PAWA appealed all the spectators to co-operate with the Association and the Management team for the smooth conduct of the event.
The house decided to constitute the PAWA Constitution Drafting Committee to be headed by Kuzhovesa Soho as Convenor.
The House endorsed the executive council to organize 1st Phek Area Open Wrestling Championship 2027.
It also resolved to organize intensive wrestling training/coaching camp in 2026.
