Shantiniketan, April 26 (MExN): A Page of 2 Lands, cross-cultural arts collaboration between Wales and Nagaland will unfold at Arthshila Shantiniketan this spring.
Developed by Meta Arts (India) and Cardiff-based arts producer Kate Perridge, the project brings together four women writers and illustrators including Emily Jones and Hannah McPake from Cardiff, Wales and Vishü Rita Krocha and Thejavinou Savi from Kohima, Nagaland, to explore contemporary storytelling rooted in folk traditions and lived experiences.
The project partners are Meta Arts (India), Kate Perridge (Wales) and Arthshila Shantiniketan (Residency and Showcase Partner). Funded by Wales Arts International, with support from the British Council, Arthshila Shantiniketan and Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA), Nagaland, A Page of 2 Lands “is a bold attempt to create equitable creative spaces across gender and cultures.” Recognizing the historic underrepresentation of women in visual storytelling and literature-linked arts in India, the project fosters a fresh platform for women artists to collaborate internationally, shifting perceptions toward more inclusive, ethical practices in the arts.
The residency will take place at Arthshila Shantiniketan from April 28 to May 1, culminating in a public showcase on May 2 featuring: A Public Talk reflecting on cross-cultural storytelling and artistic equity; A Dramatized Reading Session bringing new narratives to life; An Exhibition Walkthrough offering a glimpse into the collaborative process and creations
