A wake-up call to Nagaland: Rediscovering our identity in Christ

When moral decay darkens our land, it is time to return to the light of Christ

In Mark 13:12, Jesus warns, “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death.” This powerful verse reveals a time when love fades and moral order collapses — when humanity drifts so far from God that even family bonds, once sacred, are broken.

Today, these words echo painfully in our own land of Nagaland. We proudly declare “Nagaland for Christ,” yet we must ask ourselves how truthfully we live by that declaration. Our society, once known for unity and faith, is now marked by division, violence, and corruption. Each day’s headlines speak of killings, rape, and injustice — not by strangers, but by our own people. Brothers turn against brothers, and compassion gives way to resentment. Are we truly safe in our own land? How long will we continue to destroy one another while claiming to be a Christian state?

Our situation reflects the story of ‘Sodom and Gomorrah’, where people hardened their hearts and refused to repent. Their downfall came not only from sin, but from their unwillingness to return to God. Likewise, if we persist in hatred, pride, and unforgiveness, we risk losing the divine favor that once blessed our hills and valleys. We cannot cry “Nagaland for Christ” while denying Christ through our actions.

Yet, God’s mercy still calls us to turn back. Just as Abraham interceded for Sodom, we must now pray and plead for Nagaland — for forgiveness, healing, and renewal. What we need is not just moral change but a spiritual awakening — a return to love, justice, and true discipleship. Let this be our ‘wake-up call’ to rediscover who we are in Christ and to rebuild our land on the foundation of faith, unity, and compassion.

May ‘Nagaland for Christ’ regain its true meaning—not as a mere slogan, but as a living testimony that Christ truly reigns in our hearts.
