Guwahati, October 25 (MExN): The UIDAI Regional Office, Guwahati in coordination with the District Administration, Wokha, has launched a special Aadhaar Vahan drive in Wokha district to cover the left-out population and improve enrolment coverage.
The drive, launched on October 22, is aimed at facilitating access to Aadhaar services for residents of remote and far-flung areas, a press release said. Under the initiative, the Aadhaar Vahan will travel across the district, providing convenient access to enrolment facilities for all age groups so that residents in remote areas can avail the services closer to their homes.
Districts with low enrolment percentages compared to other districts have been identified to target the balanced population, the release said.
Residents of Wokha district have been encouraged to take advantage of the initiative and avail Aadhaar services at their convenience. The Aadhaar Vahan campaign will be launched in other low saturation districts of Nagaland soon.
Children and students have also been requested to complete the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) in time at the ages of 5 and 15 years, which is essential to maintain the accuracy of their biometric data. If the MBU is not completed between the ages of 5-7 years and 15-17 years, the Aadhaar number may be deactivated as per existing rules.
Officials noted that Aadhaar with updated biometrics facilitates seamless use in availing services such as school admissions, registering for entrance examinations, scholarships, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes and APAAR ID, wherever applicable, and that failure to do so may lead to difficulties in Aadhaar-based authentication for receiving benefits.
As part of the campaign, camps will be held across 14 villages in the district from October 26 to November 13, 2026. The camps are tentatively scheduled at Phiro on October 26, Sankitong on October 27, L Yangthung on October 28, Meriyan on October 29, Aree Old on October 30, Changsu Old on November 2, Longsachung on November 3, Baghty on November 4, Makharong on November 5, Yimpang on November 9, Yimparasa on November 10, Serika on November 11, Okotso on November 12 and Pangti on November 13.
The camp location is to be preferably at the Community Hall or School of the respective village, the release added.
