
Students, police participate in marathon against drug abuse

Police personnel and students wearing white t-shirts with the spirit of oneness to fight against Drugs witnessed marathon race this morning from New Reserve area till PHQ junction during the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking organized by Nagaland Police at Kohima under the theme "Think Health-Not Drugs".
Police personnel’s from 4th NAP, TA Phesema, PHQ special branch and students from Unit school Phesema took part in the marathon race which was flagged off by S.T Sangtam ADG (ADMN) at New Reserve.
L.T. Lotha, ADG (Opts) in his brief address said that drug addiction is just a temporary escape which leads to addiction have greater impact in social life, individual and in the lives of the family.
He implanted to have positive thinking and urged the students to abstain from the use of drugs as possibility to get influenced in trail may lead to severe addiction.
Marking the day with a difference to spread awareness and to fight against Drugs, drawing competition was held where active participation of Unit school Phesema was witnessed.
Qhatovi, Benathung and Vitseno secured first, second and third
respectively.
They were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 500, Rs. 300, Rs.200, where consolation prizes were also awarded to all the participants.
The programme was organized under the directive of Narcotic Control Board where Tripongse Snagtam, IGP (Intelligence) coordinated the programme.
Think Health, Not Drugs: 24 Nagaland Coy (I) NCC
Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): In commemoration of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, commanded by Col Paramvir Yadav, Sena Medal conducted an Awareness Drive and Rallies at Kohima, and various other places today.
It is noteworthy, to mention that 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, has the proud distinction of being the only NCC unit of Nagaland, to be commanded by a decorated Army officer.
An Awareness Rally by the by the NCC Cadets of 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, was Flagged off at 10 AM by Col Paramvir Yadav, Sena Medal at the unit HQ. The Rally which comprised approx 100 cadets, drawn from Colleges and Schools of Kohima and Zakhama, namely Govt Arts College Kohima & St Joseph College Zakhama, and Govt High School Kohima was carried out by the cadets on Foot, through various parts of Kohima Town.
The Rally covered a circuit of approx 8 kms from Unit HQ location, High School Junction, Themiazie, Seipfuzou, Teen Patti, and was Flagged in back at the unit HQ location by Col Paramvir Yadav, Sena Medal, informed a press note issued by Col RK Palta, PRO (Defence) Kohima
The note stated that the NCC cadets carried placards in their hands with slogans such as : “No To Illicit Trafficking”, “Say NO To Drugs, Say YES to Life”; “Leave Drugs, Live Life”; “Get High on Life, Not on Drugs” and also Shouted slogans en route, to spread awareness about the twin menace of Drugs & Illicit Trafficking, among the youth.
The cadets also interacted with the fraternity of Kohima town, en route the Awareness Rally. An oath ceremony was also conducted at the unit location, wherein cadets undertook a pledge to shun Drugs throughout their lives, and also to be proactive in spreading awareness about the menace among their friends and kin.
Similar Awareness Drives, Rallies and oath ceremonies were also conducted at various institutions under 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, such as : Sainik School Pungalwa, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Zuketsa and JNV Yakuki, wherein the full authorized strength of 150, 50, 50 cadets respectively, participated.
