Acceptance, forgiveness only path to coexistence, says WC, NNPG

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPG) led by Convener Gen (Retd) Neokpao Konyak, Working Convener Col Isak Sumi, and Working Convener P Tikhak has condemned what it described as the “extreme inhumanity” inflicted on six Naga individuals, stating that the incident had crossed every moral and ethical boundary.

In a statement on June 15, the WC NNPG said it was “aghast to learn that the six precious lives of the Nagas were defiled to the extent that no normal human being could ever conceive.” It added that “beyond every moral and ethical standard, the six Naga lives were made a spectacle of extreme inhumanity,” stating that history would remember the incident as a reminder of the “limitlessness of human conflict.”

The committee also acknowledged the “persistence, perseverance and patience” demonstrated by the United Naga Council (UNC) “in the midst of extraordinary circumstance.”

The WC, NNPG stated that “acceptance and forgiveness is the only path to co-existence” and said it would continue to strive for “multi-ethnic co-existence rather than unipolar narrative.”

It asserted that it would “not tolerate any form of threat to the Nagas in any form or shape.” It called on Nagas to “rise above narrow misunderstanding, unite and reason together rather than making an attempt to impose factional legitimacy.”

It further maintained that the NNPG “shall not tolerate any actions, policies or intentions from any nation designed to harm the welfare of the Naga people.”
