Kohima, December 18 (MExN): The Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW), Nagaland has signed an MOU with the HLL Lifecare Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI to start AMRIT (Affordable Medicine and Reliable Implants for Treatment) Pharmacy in the State. The MoU was signed on December 17, stated an update received here. 

Under the pact, HLL Lifecare Ltd will initially set up a warehouse at the State Family Welfare Training Institute in Chümoukedima. This facility will serve as a supply point for various public hospitals' Citizen Welfare Pharmacy to procure their requirements. The company will also open dedicated “AMRIT Pharmacy” outlets in public hospitals wherever required.

The AMRIT (Affordable Medicine and Reliable Implants for Treatment) Pharmacy initiative is aimed at providing affordable medicines, surgical items, consumables and implants for the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and all other ailments. The initiative is designed to substantially reduce treatment costs and make healthcare more accessible, the update said.

The MOU was signed by Dr Mereninla Senlem, Principal Director on behalf of the department and Dilip Kumar Mishra, Senior Manager (RBD-North East) on behalf of the HLL Lifecare Ltd.

Through this initiative, citizens of the State can access quality medical supplies at discounted price, which in turn will reduce the cost of treatment, the release added.
