Dimapur, October 18, (MExN): The Additional Director General of All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra, North East Region Mr. Lalrosanga, on an official visit to Nagaland called on the Chief Secretary of Nagaland Lalthara and appraised him of the needs and demands of All India Radio and Doordarshan in the state.
Mr. Lalrosanga, who was on a two-day official visit to the state, appealed the Chief Secretary to see that the interests of both the public broadcasters are considered and protected in the state. He said both AIR and DDK urgently need upgraded stations to deliver better service to the people. He also apprised the Chief Secretary of the district stations in Mokokchung and in Tuensang.
While speaking on the popularization of broadcast Mr. Lalthara said, the State Radio should have FM station with more local content, to which the ADG replied that Kohima will soon have an FM station in line with Aizawl FM. The Chief Secretary asked the ADG to take up the matter with the government and assured that he would take up the issues.
The ADG during his stay also held a series of meetings with the Kohima DDK and AIR officials. At the meeting with the staff of AIR Kohima at its premises today, Lalrosanga dwelt on the issue of both AIR and DDK, which include setting up of Transmitters, augmenting of studio complex, construction of office building and quarters and also shared concern on shortage of manpower. He assured to provide all types of effort to strengthen the service of the Public Service Broadcaster in the State.
