Nagaland Advisor for CAWD Kudecho Khamo on Saturday inaugurated a futsal court at Chetheba town in Phek district, constructed under the MLA Local Area Development Programme (LADP) Iconic Project.

Addressing the inaugural programme, Khamo thanked the landowners for facilitating the project by making land available for the construction of the futsal court.

He said the LADP was intended to promote the development of the constituency and that the mandate given to the ruling government was to work for the aspirations and interests of the people. He attributed the opportunity to serve to the blessings of God and the support of the people and reaffirmed his commitment to work for their welfare.

Khamo also appreciated the leadership of the area for remaining steadfast in safeguarding the interests of the people.

Stressing the importance of infrastructure, he said development was essential for progress and called for collective efforts, including willingness to make sacrifices, to ensure the overall development of the area.

He urged the people to work together with the government to realise developmental goals and called for integrity, honesty and proper care of government and public assets to ensure their maximum benefit.

Referring to the availability of banking facilities in Chetheba, Khamo encouraged residents to build strong relationships with banks and explore entrepreneurship and business opportunities as sustainable means of livelihood.

He also urged people to stay informed about state and central government welfare schemes so they could avail themselves of the benefits, assuring them of his continued support.

Describing Chetheba as a strategically located town, Khamo said plans were being formulated to accelerate development in the town and surrounding areas.

Highlighting the growing economic potential of sports, he said the sector offered livelihood opportunities, promoted peace and unity, and helped keep young people engaged in constructive activities while steering them away from social evils.

Speaking on the occasion, Chetheba Town Welfare Council chairman Setsoyi Keyho thanked Khamo for fulfilling the long-standing demand for a futsal turf in the town. He also acknowledged the advisor's role in implementing other developmental projects, including the upgradation of the Extra Assistant Commissioner's office building and the construction of a working women's hostel.

The programme was led by Vekedu Resu and attended by Extra Assistant Commissioner of Chetheba Nengpichong Singsit, public leaders from Chetheba and neighbouring areas, and football enthusiasts.
