EDTC urges businesses to open on Sundays after noon

Dimapur, October 26 (MExN): The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has appealed to business establishments within its jurisdiction, particularly hotels, pharmacies, petrol pumps, bakeries and street food vendors, to remain open on Sundays after 12 noon. In a press release, the EDTC stated that the availability of essential services and daily necessities was important for public convenience. It said that, as a town council entrusted with maintaining “public health, sanitation and safety,” it considered access to such services a priority.

The council stated that businesses holding valid trade licences issued by the EDTC were entitled to operate within its jurisdiction, subject to applicable laws and regulations, “without any undue obstruction or interference from any individual/organization/group/association.” In this regard, the EDTC requested all individuals, organisations, groups and associations to “refrain from imposing any orders, restrictions or directives” that prevent or obstruct the functioning of the establishments mentioned in the advisory.

The council further urged the public to cooperate in ensuring that essential services remained accessible, particularly in matters concerning “healthcare, food, fuel and other basic necessities.”  “The cooperation of all concerned is earnestly solicited in the larger interest of the public,” the press release stated.
