Faculty members participate in the hands-on session of the Faculty Development Programme on ‘AI Tools Training for Teachers’ held at the Fazl Ali College conference hall on September 28.
Mokokchung, September 29 (MExN): Fazl Ali College (FAC), in collaboration with Government Polytechnic Mokokchung, organised a Faculty Development Programme on “AI Tools Training for Teachers” at the FAC conference hall on September 28. The programme sought to familiarise teachers with the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and equip them with practical skills to use AI tools effectively and responsibly.
FAC Principal Dr I Wati Imchen described the programme as “the beginning of an unending dialogue on AI” and said such training was much needed at a time when AI is increasingly influencing the educational environment. Five sessions were conducted by resource persons from Government Polytechnic Mokokchung, including Er Ngangsham N Chemdok, Er Neisakienuo Nelly Yhome, Er Benjamin Chophy and Er Azhove Tetseo, accompanied by Principal Er Lanusenla Longkumer.
The training covered the basic concepts and applications of AI in education, commonly used AI tools and platforms, lesson planning, preparation of teaching-learning materials, effective prompting, and creation of presentations and other educational resources. The participants also discussed the opportunities and limitations of AI in education, with emphasis on its responsible, ethical and academically appropriate use.
An intensive hands-on session was conducted to enhance the digital competencies of the teaching faculty. The programme stressed the need for educators to approach AI critically and responsibly while combining technological tools with subject expertise, creativity and professional judgement.
The programme was led by Bendangsenla, Associate Professor and IQAC Coordinator of FAC.
