Aizawl FC, Mon XI play exhibition match to promote peace and unity

Mon, June 3 (MExN): The Mon District Football Association (MDFA) organised a special exhibition football match under the theme "Football for Peace" between Aizawl FC and Mon XI at the Pangting Astro Turf Ground in Mon Village on June 2.

According to a DIPR update, the event was organised with the objective of promoting football and fostering unity among sports enthusiasts in the district.

Addressing the gathering, Joint Secretary of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), Sunep Longchar, acknowledged the Government of Nagaland for its continued efforts to promote sports in the state. He said such initiatives would contribute to fostering peace, unity and camaraderie not only within Nagaland but also beyond.

Speaking on the theme of the event, Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS, said football has the potential to serve as a platform for strengthening peace, unity and brotherhood across the Northeast region.

He noted that the exhibition match would not only encourage the growth of football but also bring communities together through the spirit of sportsmanship and mutual understanding.

The Deputy Commissioner also expressed gratitude to the visiting side, Aizawl FC, as well as the Nagaland Football Association and the Mon District Football Association, for providing football enthusiasts in the district an opportunity to witness a high-quality match and interact with players through the friendly encounter with the home team, Mon XI.

The exhibition match formed part of broader efforts to promote football development and strengthen social harmony through sports in the region.
