Akhegwo gets new village council hall under LADP iconic project

MELURI, DECEMBER 18 (MExN): The Akhegwo Village Council Hall, constructed under the LADP (Local Area Development Programme) Iconic Project, was inaugurated by Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, MLA and Advisor, N&RE and NSDMA, on December 17.

Addressing the gathering, Nyuthe underscored the importance of preserving local dialects, stating that language forms the foundation of community identity and unity.

He commended the people of Akhegwo village for their collective efforts, noting that the successful completion of the project was made possible through cooperation, dedication and active community participation.

Nyuthe also lauded local workers for their commitment and conveyed special appreciation to the Mechu Chugho Clan for donating land for the construction of the hall, describing it as a noble contribution towards the welfare of the village.

He highlighted the value of self-reliance, remarking that teaching people skills ensures long-term sustainability rather than short-term assistance. Emphasising unity, the Advisor also called for doing away with all forms of “isms” that, he said, were eroding the social fabric.

He further urged that the hall be used as a centre of learning and as a space where justice, unity and harmony prevail for both present and future generations.

Deputy Commissioner of Meluri, K Mhathung Tsanglao, also conveyed a greeting message on the occasion. EAC Meluri HQ Pipfusa Pojar and District Planning Officer of Meluri and Phek Atu Vasa were among those present, along with other public and party leaders.

The inauguration also featured cultural performances, informed a press release from the NPF 20 Assembly Constituency, Meluri Division.
