MOKOKCHUNG, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) on Wednesday extended its support to the ongoing pen-down strike called by the Joint Coordination Committee under the aegis of the Coordination of Naga Students’ and Employees’ Associations (CANSEEA), saying the move aims to strengthen meritocracy for the benefit of the Naga people.
In a statement, the AKM objected to the induction of Non-State Civil Service officers into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and expressed solidarity with the ongoing democratic protest. The student body called upon citizens and responsible organisations to work cohesively towards a common goal, appealing for unity among all stakeholders in the larger interest of the Naga people.
The AKM appreciated the prompt action taken by CANSEEA and acknowledged the support extended by affiliated associations. It said the initiative “not only determines the present but guarantees a secure future free of corruption and a system which needs thorough revamping.”
The organisation urged the government to ensure that any induction into the IAS is conducted through a rigorous selection process, free from nepotism and favoritism, while protecting the rights and interests of existing civil servants. It warned that any deviation from this principle could undermine the credibility and effectiveness of the administrative machinery.
AKM reiterated its support for CANSEEA’s demand for a fair and transparent process that upholds the values of service rules. “Let us work together to ensure that our civil services remain meritocratic, efficient, and accountable to the people,” the statement added.
