ANARPTF refutes caution on membership fee collection

Dimapur, March 18 (MExN): The All Nagaland Adhoc Regularised Primary Teachers’ Forum (ANARPTF) has issued a rejoinder in response to a statement by the All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers’ Association (ANGPTA) cautioning primary teachers against the authorised collection of membership fees.

According to the ANARPTF, primary teachers in Nagaland operated under a single body, the ANGPTA, between 2014 and early 2018. However, a divide emerged during a general meeting on December 17, 2017, when members unanimously resolved to prepare a primary teachers’ seniority list based on the date of appointment. The ANARPTF alleged “a few leaders of ANGPTA who were appointed direct regular went ahead with the representation stating that the primary teachers' seniority list must be prepared with effect from the date of regularization and not appointment.”

Aggrieved by this, the All Nagaland Adhoc Regularised Teachers' Forum decided and rejoined the apex teachers' association, the All Nagaland School Teachers' Association in June 2018.

The forum further claimed that despite a government order issued by the Department of School Education on June 13, 2024, directing that the seniority list be reviewed and prepared in accordance with service conditions, the ANGPTA submitted a list of only about 1,500 teachers, “whereas primary teachers consisted of about 8,000 to 10,000 members.”

Citing what it termed as the “misconduct and unconstitutional style of functioning” by the ANGPTA office bearers, the ANARPTF affirmed that “has been cooperating and functioning under ANSTA ever since we parted ways with ANGPTA and rejoined ANSTA in 2018.”

The forum has urged all adhoc regularised primary teachers to contribute their membership fees to ANSTA “without any doubt or confusion,” asserting that the fees collected are utilised solely for the purpose of teachers' welfare.

The rejoinder was issued by ANARPTF Convenor T Ezanthung Lotha, General Secretary Rhanthungo Kikon, and Joint secretaries Kiyaselie Mere and T Langkong.
