The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 Batch has unanimously resolved to continue its ongoing peaceful sit-in protest indefinitely, citing prolonged delays in the regularisation of their services and the absence of a definite, time-bound assurance from the authorities.

In a representation addressed to the Commissioner and Secretary, School Education & SCERT, the Core Committee of ANATG stated that resorting to protest has never been their preferred course of action. Recalling similar agitations in 2018 and 2022, the group said it was undertaken only after repeated representations, appraisals and appeals failed to yield concrete outcomes.

According to ANATG, despite submitting numerous requests urging the department to expedite the long-pending regularisation process, the matter has remained stagnant. The group said it was compelled to issue an ultimatum on December 19, 2025, which, they claim, did not receive any response or formal communication. As a result, ANATG began a peaceful sit-in protest on February 4, 2026, which has continued since.

The group has acknowledged and appreciated the response from the Commissioner and Secretary’s office through a letter dated February 13, 2026, requesting the group not to resume the suspended hunger strike or engage in further protest, so as to allow the department to function in a conducive atmosphere and expedite the regularisation process.

ANATG also noted the assurance given by the Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, in a separate communication dated February 12, 2026, which stated that the group’s legitimate demands were under active consideration and would be addressed in a time-bound and constructive manner.

However, during a general meeting held at the protest venue on February 16, ANATG members deliberated at length on the contents of the two communications unanimously decided to continue their peaceful and democratic sit-in protest indefinitely.

The group cautioned that the agitation may be intensified unless a clear, justified, and definite timeframe for regularisation is assured “in letter and spirit.” ANATG further expressed hope for a prompt and judicious response from the government at the earliest.

Speaking to The Morung Express, a member of the media cell ANATG said there is ‘trust deficit’ and therefore, the members are adamant to continue with the sit-in protest until either a time frame is given or their services are regularised.

Meanwhile, it was informed that the Advisor for School Education has called for a meeting with the ANATG on February 17 at 11:00 am.

The aggrieved teachers will continue its sit-in protest outside the Directorate of School Education, Kohima.
