Ao Khel Council on Electoral Roll

Dimapur, October 9, (MExN): The Ao Khel Council of Nuton Basti, Dimapur has expressed their concern over the current Electoral Roll on which the EPIC was conducted. Stating that it will not hesitate to seek legal remedy from the competent authority for the residents, who have been deprived of their rights.
According to a press note issued by secretary K.Wapong Longkumer and chairman T.Maong Longchar of Ao Khel Council, they want the issue be resolved so that it is not taken advantage of by vested interests especially with communal undertones.
It was pointed out that many households in Ao Khel, Notun Basti, Dimapur were missing from the list and was indeed surprising that households, including the households of founders of the colony residing for the last 40 years were obliterated from the list. The note further stated that the list clearly indicates missing numbers nearly amounting to 42 households in the house numbers serially designated by the department and the revision that was conducted in 2004 and 2009 was more of an exercise of deleting names of selected areas than addition.
The council further mentioned that they started the process of filing Form 6 on the format downloaded from website (http://ceongl.nic.in) as being told to apply afresh during the summary revision in the month of October 2011, but the forms were changed to a new format. They stated filing the new forms received through the BLOs but pointed out that the forms that was sent with the BLOs was too less in number, with only 10-15 forms per BLO and also the non acceptance of Photostat (Xerox) copies. The council added that sufficient number of forms should be distributed, the filed in forms from the colony should be accepted and the missing households be entered so that the injustice caused to so many genuine voters over the years be corrected.
