Ao language to be introduced in school curriculum

MOKOKCHUNG, OCT 20 (DIPR): A meeting was convened by District Education Officer (DEO) Mokokchung On October 19  at AKM Conference Hall for all headmasters/headmistresses of private Schools under Mokokchung District, Ao Senden Literature Board members, DIS, SIS & EBRC members for interaction on the issue of introducing  Ao language as a compulsory subject in all the private Schools under Mokokchung District from the 2007 academic session. 

In the meeting, Prof. Lanunungsang highlighted the importance of introducing the subject and also the course of action for the implementation of the subject. It will be in a phased manner from Class V onwards starting from the academic session 2007 for which syllabus and books are already available.  Ao subject teachers,  as per notification from the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), are required to pass a proficiency test to be conducted by the Ao Senden Literature Board. At  the meeting, President Ao Senden Temjenkaba and Editor Ao Milen, T Senka Ao, highlighted the significance of having Ao language as a compulsory subject within the school curriculum.
