Mokokchung, July 10 (MExN): Ao Riju, an academy for the Ao tribe to preserve the Ao language was formally inaugurated on July 10 at the Ao Senden Conference Hall.
On November 26, 2021, the Ao Senden Literature Board (ASLB) recommended to the Ao Senden to create an academy for the Ao Tribe in order to preserve the Ao language. The Ao Senden Literature Board was dissolved on June 30, 2023, and the Ao Riju was formally established on July 10, 2023.
Chubawati Longchar, President, Ao Senden said, that the objective for establishing an academy for the Aos and Ao language is to preserve, promote and develop the language, thereby preserving culture.
Members of Ao Senden and former members of ASLB spoke and shared opinions and words of appreciation and encouragement at the inaugural programme. To mark the formal inauguration, President Ao Senden handed over the keys to the Ao Rijju.
The office bearers for the Ao Riju are President: Prof M Rongsen, Akhoya; Vice President: Dr Medem, Mongchen; General Secretary: S. Wati Ozukum, Mopungchuket; Asst General Secretary: Dr Imlirenla Walling, Khensa; and Finance Secretary: Imlitoshi , Süngratsü.
Besides the office bearers, there are other committees and members that constitute the Ao Riju.
