
18 SIKH of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) treating a snake bite victim at Tulihal airport.
Dimapur, July 9 (MExN): The 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (South) organized a Lecture on “Sanitation and Health Awareness” at Kakching on July 5, 2011 for the students of Kakching Public School, Kakching, Thoubal District. The lecture was conducted by the Medical team of 27 Assam Rifles with the aim to acquaint the students with the various facets of “Health and Hygiene” especially in the rainy season and prevention of various diseases. A movie with a social theme was screened after the lecture for the students. A total of 150 students and five teachers attended the programme. The students took interest in the lecture and asked various questions pertaining to health awareness.
The note also mentioned that the 37 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under aegis of HQ IGAR (S) provided immediate medical aid to 16-year-old boy who met with an accident on a motorbike near Tuijang village. The condition of the boy was extremely critical and bleeding profusely when brought to unit hospital. He was given eight stitches on head, bandages on shoulder and chest. Pillion rider was also given first aid. Condition of both the individuals was stated to be stable at the time of discharge.
Meanwhile, 18 SIKH of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) at Tulihal airport, treated two snake bite victims on May 5, 2011. The first patient identified as Manorama Devi (34 yrs), of Malom Village and Mangol Njangbi (50Yrs) of Kangmong, Nambol Imphal West was bitten by a snake in her lower right leg. She was rushed to the 18 SIKH medical inspection room, where she was administered life saving medication by the unit medical officer and the paramedical staff. Another patient identified as Mangol Njangbi (50Yrs) of Kangmong, Nambol was also brought to 18 SIKH medical inspection room, post snake bite. She was bitten by a snake in left foot while working in paddy field. The patient was attended to by unit medical team and treatment was given. After three hours of close observation, both patients were discharged with advice and medication.
