Kohima, July 11 (MExN): The Assam Rifles, on July 11, seized smuggled foreign cigarettes reportedly worth 1.35 crore near the Merima Bypass road, Kohima.
According to an IGAR (N) release, the seizure was made after a Quick Reaction Team of Assam Rifles established Mobile Vehicle Check Post based on specific information regarding the smuggling of suspicious items through the New Secretariat road, Kohima.
During the search of the suspicious vehicle, 500 packets of foreign ESSE cigarettes and 500 packets of PARIS cigarettes (Burmese) were seized, it said.
The seized items along with the vehicle were handed over to the Customs Department, Kohima, it added.
