Kohima, December 9 (MExN): A column of the Indian Army provided aid to civil and rail authorities after the derailment of a goods train at early hours of December 8 at Naharkhatiya. 


“Responding to an emergency situation, immediate medical support and refreshments were provided to the stranded railway staff, stated a press release from Lt Col Sumit SharmaPRO (Defence), Kohima. 


Due to the peculiarity of requirement, the troops also assisted the police in crowd control, it added. 


Train services between lower and upper Assam were disrupted on Sunday morning after 13 wagons of a goods train derailed between Naharkatiya and Duliajan stations under Tinsukia division of Northeast Frontier Railway.
