Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): Troops of the 113 Infantry Battalion (TA) Rajput contained a bushfire at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sewak in Dimapur on March 11.
According to a press release from the DIPR, the fire broke out within the school premises at around 5:45 pm. Fuelled by dry foliage and undergrowth, the fire posed a threat to the school infrastructure and nearby wooded areas.
A firefighting team from the 113 Infantry Battalion (TA) Rajput reached the site and began operations to contain the fire. The troops cleared vegetation to create firebreaks and beat down flames to prevent the fire from spreading towards school buildings and adjoining areas.
A military water bowser was deployed to supply water through hose lines, while troops formed a bucket chain to combat flames in areas inaccessible to vehicles.
The team also used fire-extinguisher balls to suppress pockets of fire, while CO₂ and dry powder extinguishers were used to protect electrical installations and other infrastructure.
